WOVEN INTO GOD BY GOD

‘Oneness’ non-trinitarian theology and legalism fit together as a hand in glove. A reading of Gregory Boyd’s book is informative in this respect. Both constructs are abstractions that grew from the epistemology of the tree of knowledge. When we speak of oneness with God we are not referring to the kind of oneness of the Unmoved-Mover variety. Trinitarian oneness is a perichoretic relationship in which all are part of each other yet totally themselves. This is the kind of relationship we as sons of God have with our Father courtesy of Jesus Christ.
A MYSTERY
The mystery of our union with God is not all that mysterious when we consider that it is a mirror of the oneness of God as the trinity. It is certainly not mechanical. It’s what it means to be woven into God by the One Spirit.
It is a similar kind of oneness that we have been drawn into. We are not Gods, but we are sons/daughters of God.
Trinity is the nature of God. In this respect trinitarian theology is fully God and anti- the fall. It is the antidote to separation in the person of Jesus Christ. So no need to be scared of mysticism as though is something flaky and new age. It is the reality of Christ – the reality that Jesus as the emissary of God has drawn us into union with God. John called this ‘Christ come in our flesh’ and warned that to deny this is the spirit of anti-christ.
YOU AND FATHER ARE ONE
Torrance citing Athanasius remarks, [It] “is surely how we are to think of the one Being, three Persons of the Holy Trinity: not as three disparate hypostases estranged from one another, alienated in being, and individually separated from one another like created things ... but as a Holy Trinity, not Trinity in name only, but really existing and subsisting, a Father really existing and subsisting, and a Son really existing and subsisting, and a Holy Spirit really existing and subsisting.” (1) He’s talking the oneness of God that is the oneness that we have become part of in Christ.
WHY THE FADE?
If there is a reason why so many Holy Spirit revivals start with a flash and end with a whimper, it may be that these miracles, signs and manifest presence occurrences are not the main game. They happen as an advertisement by Holy Spirit to draw attention to the fact that we have been made one with God in Christ. Christ is our union with God.
We are not alone. We belong. We are one with God because God has made it so in Himself.
INFORM YOURSELF ABOUT THE NEW COVENANT
You are not graced to keep the law. You are graced to be the manifestation of Jesus.
By living in the incarnation, which is the new covenant in spirit and in truth, we are alive with spirit and life because we are rooted in God, which is to say rooted in the trinity and living in this reality and not in things peripheral to union with God. Thus, by being ourselves in this union and embarking on the projects to which we are led by nature and the leading of the Spirit, we ignite the world with His life by living from a humanity that is ignited by its oneness with God. Nothing mysterious about that.
